Wicklow Sings set to Wow again as Wicklow’s biggest Singing Festival returns for 2024!

Wicklow Sings’ is back for one night only on Saturday 20th April 2024 in Temple Carrig School, Greystones, County Wicklow, doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start.
Wicklow Sings Festival will bring together many of the best choirs in Wicklow, boasting voices from over 400 people from all corners of the county.

This is the seventh year the festival organisers, Dara Mac Mahon and Jamie Lyon, have brought this event to Wicklow. Speaking about the event, Festival Founder and Artistic Director, Dara Mac Mahon said: “We started this community arts event in 2016 and it has grown from strength to strength since. The 12 Choirs participating love entertaining and are busy preparing for their return to the big stage. Ticket sales are brisk, and we would really advise people to book early, as last year the event sold out in advance. People can book tickets on www.wicklowsings.ie.”

Festival organiser and co-director of Unity Gospel Choir (alongside Neville Cox), Jamie Lyon said: “Wicklow Sings is an uplifting evening of music that really highlights and promotes the wonderful singing communities around Wicklow. Singing promotes all aspects of well-being, happiness and relaxation, boosting confidence and promoting social bonding, and we are delighted to host this unique community event once again!”

The evening event will see performances from a wide variety of Wicklow choirs including Unity Gospel Choir, Greystones; Wicklow Parkinsons Choir, Ashford; Beating Time, Bray; Serendipity, Bray; Temple Carrig School Choir; Greystones; Wicklow Singers, Wicklow Town; Bella Voce, Delgany; Greystones Community College Choir; Sound Crowd, Music Generation Wicklow; Avondale Voices, Rathdrum; Cheile Community Choir, Bray; and The Carrig Singers, Greystones.

Wicklow Sings is hosted by Temple Carrig School, and the school principal and Festival Co-Founder, Alan Cox said: “We are delighted to host Wicklow Sings again. Audiences will enjoy the diversity of choirs from all over the County. It is a fantastic evening and provides a great opportunity for the community to use the facilities of the school.” Dara Mac Mahon continued: “We would like to thank Alan Cox and Temple Carrig School for hosting our special event, also to the Wicklow Arts Office for their continued support over the last few years. We would also like to thank this years’ sponsors: The Whale Theatre and Spintelligent Ireland.

Wicklow Arts Officer, Jenny Sherwin, stated that ‘Wicklow Sings’ is a pivotal moment in the Wicklow Arts event calendar, bringing together passionate singers and concert goers from across Wicklow to celebrate choral music. Supporting ‘Wicklow Sings’ fulfils a key priority in Wicklow’s Culture & Creativity Strategy 2023 – 2027 thanks to Creative Ireland funding.
