Wicklow County Council has announced that work is due to commence in the coming months on upgrades to the Arklow Dock. The development will see the construction of a new pontoon which will help to ensure safer access and secure berths for fishing vessels. SSE Renewables has part-funded the new pontoon.
Public toilets will also be constructed with the final design stages progressing. New seating around the harbour area will also be erected before Christmas. Two of the new seats have been privately sponsored by families and friends of loved ones who have passed away. The remaining four seats have been paid for by Arklow Municipal District’s discretionary budget.
