Created in 2006 by avid animal lover Colleen Paige, the National Day in America appears only to have been adopted on Irish shores far more recently.

Colleen has also created National Cat Day, National Dog Day, World  Horse Day, National Puppy Day, National Mutt Day, National Black Dog Day and National Wildlife Day. Cited as being ‘America’s leading Pet and Family Lifestyle Expert”, it could seem that the idea is a bit fluffy and who needs so many animal celebration days? However, there is plenty of substance behind the novelty days.

Colleen is an animal behaviourist, a published author, , photographer, interior designer and has amassed a huge following of both celebrities and well known publications, and household names in the sports industry. All of this has undoubtedly led to an increased awareness of the importance of animal welfare aswell as being a good revenue stream for the animal welfare sector.
