The Main Street roadworks in Arklow have been given an update with all remaining works due to be completed by November 18th, 2022. The date was confirmed in a notice provided by ARUP Wicklow County Council.
The news will be welcomed by both Arklow residents and businesses. Both have been hugely affected particularly since the introduction of the one-way system. A summary of work that remains to be completed includes;
- Main Road pavement construction from The Chocolate Shop on Upper Main Street to Bradshaw’s Lane including new line marking
- Removal and replacement of top pavement layer from Bradshaw’s Lane to Dunnes Lane
- Planting of more than 17 semi-mature trees
- New planters and seating lined on both sides of Main Street
- Cleaning and sealing of all new pavement
- New footpath and paved area at the Courthouse and former Ormonde Cinema
- Completion of pavement in front of the Parochial House, Tourist Office, and Bank of Ireland carpark
- Installation of new public lighting
It is expected that the majority of major construction work will conclude in October with the above final tasks completed by the November 18th date.
