Main Street roadworks completion date in sight

The Main Street roadworks in Arklow have been given an update with all remaining works due to be completed by November 18th, 2022. The date was confirmed in a notice provided by ARUP Wicklow County Council.

The news will be welcomed by both Arklow residents and businesses. Both have been hugely affected particularly since the introduction of the one-way system. A summary of work that remains to be completed includes;

  • Main Road pavement construction from The Chocolate Shop on Upper Main Street to Bradshaw’s Lane including new line marking
  • Removal and replacement of top pavement layer from Bradshaw’s Lane to Dunnes Lane
  • Planting of more than 17 semi-mature trees
  • New planters and seating lined on both sides of Main Street
  • Cleaning and sealing of all new pavement
  • New footpath and paved area at the Courthouse and former Ormonde Cinema
  • Completion of pavement in front of the Parochial House, Tourist Office, and Bank of Ireland carpark
  • Installation of new public lighting

It is expected that the majority of major construction work will conclude in October with the above final tasks completed by the November 18th date.
