Arklow Sustainable Energy Community is organising an Insulation Meitheal for the Arklow Community. This is where a number of residents interested in upgrading their homes and reducing energy use, join together as a group to get better prices from reputable companies and make the process easy.

The old Irish term ‘Meitheal’, signifies neighbours coming together to help in their community; to make light work over larger tasks. It was common during harvests, especially when it came to cutting the turf. In modern Ireland the spirit of ‘Meitheal’ is still thriving.
An insulation Meitheal is a community-led concept. It involves informing and grouping homeowners in a local area who want to install This grouping makes it easier to:Â
- Source quotes from suppliers and installers, through bulk purchases
- Simplify planning multiple installations in one community

This project will focus on Cavity Wall insulation and Attic Insulation. It will suit any house that has a cavity wall. We know houses from in Ashgrove, Woodlands, Meadow Vale, Rory O Connors and Cherryfield are suitable.
