An Arklow Culture Crawl will take place for the first time as part of Culture Night. Over 1.1 million people engaged with Culture Night in 2021. Organised by the Arts Council, it is a “national moment, celebrating culture, creativity, and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured, and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day”.

What is the Arklow Culture Crawl?

The Arklow Culture Crawl will feature musicians, bands, artists, poets, actors, and more. You will be led through the streets of Arklow while stopping off at cultural and historic sites along the way to soak up all that’s on offer.

Who organises the Arklow Culture Crawl?

The culture crawl is curated and managed by Arklow Music and Arts. It is supported by Wicklow Arts Office and funded by the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme provided by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media.

Where and when is it taking place?

Anyone wishing to attend will meet at Saint Saviour’s Church at 6:50 pm and finish at 11pm on Friday 23rd September 2022. Venues include St. Saviour’s Church, The Corner House, Martins Lane (beside Blue Cafe) Tom’s Lane, Arklow Christian Community Church (Old Nun’s Chapel) St. Mary’s Road, outside Old Library, outside, Arklow Library, Bradshaw Lane, and The Arklow Golf Club.

Who can attend?

Anyone is invited to come along and join in the crawl. It is family-friendly for kids over 8 years of age. People are advised to bring comfortable walking shoes for the duration of the event.

How much is it?

The Arklow Culture Crawl is free to everyone and no booking is required. There will be a free bus from Mc Mullans to the golf club at around 9:30pm. Anyone wishing to book a seat on the bus should contact the group beforehand.

What acts are performing?

A whole host of acts will be performing including – Arklow Pipe Band, Suantrai Female Vocal Ensemble, Arklow Revival Gospel Choir, Sean Fox, Bri Elle Finn, Avril O’ Toole, Fionn Vigors, Roisin Vigors, Jennifer Lee, Eoghan & Charlotte Kinsella, Kate O Sullivan, Robin James Hurt, Dynamix, Cor na Habhann, Eleanor O’ Reilly, Tony Byrne, The Harper & Lambert Family, Tommy Breen & Na Cailini, A Chairde, Aaron T Bone & EJ Cooke Hennigan, Christine Dunne Firmo & Richard Dunne, and Devin Reardon.
